“High levels of poverty in this community lead to many young people dropping out of school. They get involved in risky behaviour such as drug use and unprotected sex, often with multiple partners.”

“Before we came here, there were no sex education and HIV/AIDS prevention programmes, or reproductive health services. These deprived young people had no support at all.”

Rita Namakiika, Executive Director, SAFY

Who we support

We work with deprived young people, in and out of school, living in Kitamanyangamba slum, Kampala. We support particularly vulnerable groups, including girls and disabled people. We also work with unemployed young people, and those who have little or no education.

We work with local communities and their representatives, non government organisations (NGOs), associations and professional groups.
