“Only 19% of sexually active 15-19 year-old Ugandan girls use condoms.”

Uganda AIDS Commission

Health & Counselling

When SAFY first started working in Kitamanyangamba slum, Kampala, there were no dedicated youth services in the area. This meant there was nowhere young people could go for advice, to ask questions they couldn't ask their parents, to find out about sexual health or to get condoms if they were sexually active.

SAFY is working in partnership with the Ministry of Health to fill this void. Our trained and experienced Social Workers provide free information, guidance and counselling. They also provide a referral service, helping young people get any additional support they need from professionals working outside their community.
