“SAFY was more than I ever expected it would be. I learnt such a lot and I really miss everyone!”

Volunteering

SAFY has a proud tradition of welcoming volunteers from Uganda and internationally. If you would like to volunteer with SAFY, you will need a desire to learn and a willingness to work hard. In return, you will have an amazing experience working with a highly experienced and supportive team of professionals.

Volunteer opportunities vary as needs arise. Work may include: organising and participating in recreational activities, working with and co-ordinating Youth Clubs, taking part in and leading youth training days, advising young people.

You will need to be proficient in English, Uganda's official language. Experience of working with young people is desirable but not essential. Volunteers need plenty of initiative, to be self-sustaining and have strong organisational skills.

Volunteers will be expected to stay for a minimum of two months and will be unpaid. Successful applicants pay their own travel, insurance and food expenses. Accommodation can be arranged with a host family for a small fee. Because volunteers work with vulnerable young people, we have stringent recruitment procedures, including police checks.

If you are interested in applying to volunteer with SAFY, please write to us in English, providing your CV and a covering letter stating your availability and areas of interest.
